# FAQs

## Setup & Access

<details>

<summary><strong>Do I need Google Analytics to use PageFly Analytics?</strong></summary>

No. PageFly Analytics works independently — it collects data directly through Shopify's built-in tracking system. No Google account, no GA4 connection, no external tools required.

If you previously used GA4 with PageFly, you can continue using it alongside PageFly Analytics, or switch entirely.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>How do I enable PageFly Analytics?</strong></summary>

1. Go to **Analytics** in PageFly's left sidebar
2. Click the **Enable Analytics** button on the banner or connection box
3. Approve the Shopify permissions popup
4. Tracking starts automatically

See [Enable PageFly Analytics](/page-structure-and-elements/analytics/page-analytics/enable-pagefly-analytics.md) for the full guide.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Is PageFly Analytics available on the Free plan?</strong></summary>

Free plan users can explore a **demo dashboard** with sample data to see how analytics works. To track your real store data, you need a paid plan.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>I enabled analytics but see no data. What should I check?</strong></summary>

Troubleshooting checklist:

1. **Wait 1-2 hours** — data needs time to appear after enabling
2. **Check that your page is published** — only published pages are tracked
3. **Visit your store** — open your storefront in an incognito browser to generate a test session
4. **Verify PageFly Analytics is enabled** — check for the green "Active" badge next to "PageFly Analytics" on the Analytics dashboard

If data still doesn't appear after 24 hours, contact PageFly support.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Does PageFly Analytics slow down my store?</strong></summary>

No. PageFly Analytics uses Shopify's built-in web pixel system, which runs in a sandboxed environment separate from your storefront. It does not add visible scripts to your pages or affect page load speed.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I track pages not built with PageFly?</strong></summary>

No. PageFly Analytics only tracks pages built with PageFly. For store-wide analytics (theme pages, checkout, etc.), use Shopify's built-in analytics or Google Analytics.

## Data & Metrics

<details>

<summary><strong>Why don't my PageFly numbers match Shopify Analytics?</strong></summary>

Small differences are normal because:

* **Session definition:** PageFly uses a 30-minute inactivity window; Shopify may use different criteria
* **Scope:** PageFly tracks only PageFly pages; Shopify tracks the entire store
* **Attribution:** PageFly uses last-click attribution for revenue
* **Timing:** Data processing may have slight delays

Numbers should be close but won't match exactly.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>What's the difference between Bounce Rate and Engaged Session Rate?</strong></summary>

They're opposites:

* **Engaged Session Rate:** % of visitors who interacted (clicked, scrolled, or stayed 10+ seconds)
* **Bounce Rate:** % of visitors who left without interacting

**Formula:** Engaged Session Rate + Bounce Rate = 100%

**Example:** 38% engaged = 62% bounce rate

**Good targets:** Engagement rate above 50% is good. Bounce rate below 40% is strong.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>How is revenue calculated?</strong></summary>

**Gross Sales** = Product Price × Quantity (before discounts, shipping, and taxes)

**Example:**

* 2 × T-Shirt ($25) + 1 × Hat ($15) = **$65 gross sales**
* After shipping ($5) + tax ($4.50) - discount ($10) = $64.50 order total
* **PageFly shows:** $65 | **Shopify may show:** $64.50

Revenue is displayed in your store's currency. All amounts are converted automatically.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>How quickly does data update?</strong></summary>

PageFly Analytics data updates within **5 minutes** of visitor activity. This is significantly faster than GA4 (which can take 24-48 hours).

Daily aggregate charts update once per day.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>What does "Avg" mean in metric names?</strong></summary>

"Avg" (Average) means a **weighted average** across all pages, not a simple average.

**Example:**

* Page A: 100 sessions, 40 bounces (40% bounce rate)
* Page B: 50 sessions, 30 bounces (60% bounce rate)
* **Avg. Bounce Rate** = 70 bounces ÷ 150 sessions = **46.7%**
* **Not** (40% + 60%) ÷ 2 = 50%

Pages with more traffic have more influence on the average.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I track specific button clicks?</strong></summary>

Yes, using **Custom Tracking IDs**:

1. Select an element in PageFly Editor
2. Go to **General > Tracking > PageFly events**
3. Enter a unique name (e.g., "hero-cta-button")
4. Save and Publish

Your Analytics dashboard will show the click rate for each tracking ID.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Why do some pages show no data?</strong></summary>

Common reasons:

* **Page is unpublished** — only published pages are tracked
* **Page was recently published** — data takes 1-2 hours to appear
* **Analytics was enabled after page was published** — tracking starts from the moment analytics is enabled, not retroactively
* **Page has very low traffic** — pages with zero visitors in the date range show no data

## AI Co-pilot

<details>

<summary><strong>Does the AI assistant cost extra?</strong></summary>

No. The AI co-pilot is included in all paid PageFly plans with Analytics access. No additional charge.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can AI access my customer data?</strong></summary>

No. AI only sees **aggregated metrics** — totals, averages, and percentages. It never accesses individual customer names, emails, addresses, or specific order details.

**AI sees:** "Your homepage had 1,240 sessions with 4.2% conversion rate"

**AI doesn't see:** "John from NYC bought Product X for $45.99"

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>What if AI gives wrong information?</strong></summary>

AI can make mistakes. Here's how to handle it:

1. Click **thumbs down** on the response to flag it for review
2. Verify important findings by checking the actual dashboard numbers
3. Consider that AI may miss context you have (recent campaign changes, seasonal effects)
4. Try rephrasing your question for a more specific answer

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can AI make changes to my pages?</strong></summary>

No. AI is **read-only** — it analyzes data and suggests improvements, but you must implement changes yourself in the PageFly Editor. This is by design: you maintain full control over your store.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Does AI remember previous conversations?</strong></summary>

AI remembers context within the same conversation session. Each new session starts fresh.

To personalize AI across sessions, use the **Customize AI** feature to set your business goals, model, and experience level — these settings persist.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I compare two time periods?</strong></summary>

Yes. Toggle **Compare to previous period** on any dashboard:

* Charts show both periods as separate lines
* Metric cards display percentage change
* Previous period is automatically calculated based on your selected date range

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I share analytics with my team?</strong></summary>

Anyone with access to your PageFly account can view Analytics — no special permissions needed.

For external sharing (clients, stakeholders), use the **CSV export** feature or take screenshots.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I export reports on a schedule?</strong></summary>

Not currently. You must manually export when needed.

**Workaround:** Set a calendar reminder (e.g., "Export PageFly Analytics every Monday") and export the same view consistently to build your own trend tracking.
