Connection & Setup
Why can't I connect GA4 to PageFly?
Check these 3 points:
Google account has Editor or Admin permissions on the GA4 property
GA4 property, account, and data stream exist and are active
Logged in with the correct Google account that has GA4 permissions
Why is my analytics data in PageFly not showing or very limited?
Common causes:
GA4 needs a few minutes to 24-48 hours to process the data
The newly created GA4 data stream has no data yet
Network errors
If everything seems ok but still no data, please contact our 24/7 live chat support.
I granted permissions but PageFly still can't retrieve GA4 data. Why?
Try these steps:
Confirm you're logged in with the correct Google account that has Editor or Admin permissions on the GA4 Property you have connected
Check if the property and data stream in the app are correct and exist
Log out and log back into your Google account
GA4 needs a few minutes to 24-48 hours to process the data
I connected GA4 but see no data. What should I check?
Troubleshooting checklist:
Verify connection: Analytics → Check green "Connected" badge
Wait 24-48 hours: GA4 needs time to process the data since you've just connected and started tracking data
Confirm page published: Only published pages send data
Still no data? Contact PageFly support with screenshots.
My GA4 connection keeps disconnecting. Why?
Common causes:
OAuth token expired (~6 months): Reconnect at Settings → Analytics
GA4 permissions changed: Ask admin to restore Editor role
Property renamed/deleted: Connect to correct property
Still disconnecting? Try disconnect and connect to GA4 again.
Can multiple stores connect to one GA4 accounts?
Should not - only one GA4 property per PageFly store to separate the data of the different stores.
To switch:
Settings → Analytics → DisconnectConnect GA4 with new accountSelect new property
Note: Historical data from previous property won't display anymore.
Data & metrics
Why don't GA4 numbers in PageFly match Shopify Analytics numbers?
A: This is normal because:
GA4 and Shopify use different measurement methods
GA4 filters bot/spam traffic
External checkout redirects cause session loss in GA4
How does PageFly ensure GA4 data is always accurate?
A: PageFly provides:
Support for checking and updating GA4 access permissions
Optimized standard web pixel setup, avoiding script conflicts
Error handling for quotas and retry mechanisms when fetching GA4 data
Merchants should: Monitor error logs and ensure proper GA4 configuration.
What should I do when I see "not set" data in PageFly Analytics reports?
A: Causes:
Missing source data or lost sessions
Blocked cookies or external redirects
Solutions:
Optimize cookie consent policy and tracking
Ensure proper GA4 and web pixel configuration
Can I use multiple GA4 accounts or combine manual Google tags to track pages?
A: No. Use only 1 GA4 account for tracking.
Why don't my numbers match GA4 exactly?
A: Normal discrepancies due to:
Scope: PageFly shows only PageFly pages; GA4 shows entire store
Timezone: Check Settings → Timezone in both PageFly and GA4
Date range: Ensure both use same calendar dates
Attribution models: PageFly uses last-click; GA4 may use data-driven
Data lag: GA4 takes 24-48 hours to finalize
Numbers should match when: same scope, date range, timezone, after 48-hour processing.
What's the difference between Bounce Rate and Engaged Session Rate?
A: They're opposites:
Engaged Session Rate: % visitors engaged (10+ seconds, converted, or clicked)
Bounce Rate: % visitors NOT engaged (left quickly)
Formula: Engaged Session Rate + Bounce Rate = 100%
Example: 38% engaged = 62% bounce rate
Focus: High Engaged Session Rate (70%+) = Good | Low Bounce Rate (30% or less) = Good
How is Revenue calculated in PageFly Analytics?
A: Formula: Total Gross Sales = Product Price × Quantity
Included: Product price, quantity
Excluded: Taxes, shipping, discounts, tips, returns/refunds
Example:
2 × T-Shirt ($25) + 1 × Hat ($15) = $65 gross sales
After shipping ($5) + tax ($4.50) - discount ($10) = $64.50 order total
PageFly shows: $65 | Shopify shows: $64.50
Why gross sales: Measures raw revenue before variable fees for easier ROI calculation.
Can I see which specific button or link was clicked?
A: Yes, using Custom Tracking IDs:
Select element in PageFly EditorGeneral tab → Tracking section → Enter unique ID (e.g., "hero-cta-red")Save and Publish
Analytics shows conversion rate for each tracking ID. Compare multiple IDs to optimize performance.
Example table (for context):
Red CTA button
cta-red
8.2%
Blue CTA button
cta-blue
5.7%
Text link "Learn More"
learn-more-link
2.1%
Insight: Red button converts 42% better than blue.
Why do some pages show "Not tracking"?
A: Reasons:
Page is unpublished (draft only) – Publish to start trackingPage recently published – Data takes 24-48 hours to appearGA4 connected after page published – Tracking starts from connection date forwardApp Embed Block disabled – Check Shopify → Themes → App embeds → PageFly toggle ON
What does "Avg" mean in metric names?
A: "Avg" (Average) = weighted average across all PageFly pages, not simple average.
Example:
Page A: 100 sessions, 40 bounces (40% bounce rate)
Page B: 50 sessions, 30 bounces (60% bounce rate)
Avg. Bounce Rate = (70 bounces ÷ 150 sessions) = 46.7%
NOT: (40% + 60%) ÷ 2 = 50%
Total vs Avg:
Total Sessions: Sum of all sessions (e.g., 1,040)
Avg. Conversion Rate: Weighted conversion rate across all pages (e.g., 4.2%)
AI analytics co-pilot
Does AI Assistant cost extra?
A: No. AI Assistant is included in all PageFly paid plans with Analytics access. No additional charge.
Requirements:
PageFly paid plan
GA4 connected
At least one published PageFly page
Can AI access my customer data?
A: No. AI Assistant sees only aggregated metrics (totals, averages, percentages).
Cannot access:
Individual customer names, emails, addresses
Specific order details
Payment information
Personal identifiable information (PII)
Can see:
"127 orders on Dec 15" (total)
"Average order value: $67" (aggregate)
"Mobile bounce rate: 68%" (percentage)
Example:
AI knows: "Your Homepage had 1,240 sessions with 4.2% conversion rate"
AI doesn't know: "John Smith from NYC bought Product X for $45.99"
This privacy protection is built into GA4's data structure—PageFly never requests or receives individual customer data.
What if AI gives wrong information?
A: AI can make mistakes. Here's how to handle it:
Immediate action:
Click 👎 (thumbs down) button below the AI response — this flags the response for review
Verify important insights:
Cross-reference AI findings with your GA4 dashboard
Check if data sources match (same date range, timezone, scope)
Validate insights before implementing costly changes
Common causes of AI errors:
Incomplete data – AI can only work with available data
Misunderstood question – Try rephrasing more specifically
Context missing – Provide background on recent changes
Data lag – GA4 data finalization takes 24-48 hours
Example verification:
Context matters: AI spotted the pattern, but you added the "why" from your marketing knowledge.
Can AI make changes to my pages automatically?
A: No. AI Assistant is read-only – it analyzes data and suggests improvements, but you must manually implement recommendations.
AI's role:
🔍 Identify issues
💡 Suggest solutions
📊 Estimate impact
📖 Provide instructions
Your role:
✏️ Edit pages in PageFly Editor
🧪 Test recommendations
📈 Measure results
🔄 Iterate based on outcomes
This separation is intentional: You maintain full control over your store's design and content. AI helps you make informed decisions, but final approval is always yours.
Does AI learn from my feedback?
A: Yes and no:
What feedback does:
Your 👍👎 ratings help improve AI for all PageFly users
Flags inaccurate responses for our team to review
Helps train better models over time
What feedback doesn't do:
AI doesn't "remember" your previous conversations in future sessions
Each conversation starts fresh (no long-term memory between chats)
Feedback doesn't customize AI specifically for your account
How to influence AI for your account:
Use the "Customize AI" feature (Overall Dashboard → Welcome modal)
Provide business context: target audience, goals, industry
This context is stored and used in all AI responses for your account
Can AI predict future performance?
A: AI can provide data-driven estimates, but not guarantees:
What AI can estimate:
"If you reduce load time by 2 seconds, bounce rate may improve by 10-15% based on typical patterns"
"Optimizing this page could add approximately $500-800/month in revenue"
"Pages with videos typically convert 20-30% better in your store"
What AI cannot predict:
"This change will definitely increase conversion by 20%"
"You'll make exactly $1,234 more next month"
Future traffic spikes from external events
AI confidence levels:
High: Based on clear patterns in your data
Medium: Suggestive trend but limited data
Low: Hypothesis only, needs testing
Always test recommendations and measure actual results.

Consider using GA4 directly for broader team access
No separate "share link" or "view-only" access currently available.
Can I compare two different time periods side by side?
A: Yes, using the comparison feature available on all dashboards.
How to enable:
Select your main date range (e.g., Dec 1-15, 2024)Toggle on "Compare to previous period"Charts now show both periods as separate linesMetric cards show percentage change between periods
Comparison options:
Previous period (automatic): If you select 7 days, compares to previous 7 days
Custom comparison: Select specific start/end dates for comparison
Use cases:
"Did Black Friday campaign improve conversion?" (Compare Nov 20-27 vs Nov 13-20)
"Is my new template performing better?" (Compare after launch vs before)
"Are we improving month-over-month?" (Compare Dec vs Nov)
Others
Can I share PageFly analytics data with my team or partners?
A: Export data as images or CSV files. PageFly doesn't currently have direct sharing via links.
Do I need to pay for Google Analytics 4?
A: No. GA4 is free for most businesses. Google Analytics 360 (paid) is only for enterprises with 10+ million hits/month.
Can I use Universal Analytics (GA3) instead of GA4?
A: No. Google discontinued Universal Analytics (GA3) on July 1, 2023. It no longer collects data. You must migrate to GA4.
How long until I see data after connecting GA4?
A:
Real-time tracking: Starts immediately after connection
Historical data: Appears within 24-48 hours
Reliable patterns: Wait at least 7 days (30 days recommended)
Tip: Test in incognito browser right after connecting. Check GA4 → Reports → Realtime after 2-3 minutes.
Can I track pages created outside PageFly?
A: No. PageFly Analytics only tracks pages built with PageFly. For store-wide analytics (theme pages, checkout, etc.), use your GA4 dashboard directly or Shopify's native analytics.
